He#@ Week at School
(bad word above, in case you couldn't tell : P)
I never realized what being "accredited" meant when it comes to preschools. Now that I work at one and this year was an "accreditation" year, my boss, went loopy! Apparently accreditation teams look at everything! So this last week has been really stressful and very physically draining. My boss, who by the way is somewhat obsessive compulsive about cleanliness, was having me scrub things after the cleaning crew had already cleaned the same thing! I have been "sprucing up" the parent information board, making sure all 13 emergency kits were well stocked and spiffy, plus helping any teachers with maintenance reports and whatnot. Needless to say, we at the school will be ecstatic when this visit is over.
We apparently will be interviewed and observed as well. Sigh... great someone will ask me about how much I like my job...well, how can I put a positive spin on changing poopy accidents? Hmmmmm, well I guess I will leave that part out of it.
I do have an opportunity if they ask me what my future goals are, to say I want to be a preschool art teacher, seeing as how they need it at this school very badly. All you see around this school is coloring in the lines, crafts and copying. No free art at all!
They wanted to see more of it last time they came through and I am hoping that will be the push that will get me that position next year.
I even went in today (on a Sunday), to finish cleaning and setting up the "Interview" room, helping set up display tables, etc. Worked from 1:30 until 4:00 when the Accreditation team actually showed up! They were supposed to arrive at 4:30 so I kind of creeped out the back! Everything I was responsible got done, so I just have to do my job the next three days and hopefully nothing will go wrong!
I will give you all an update most likely at the end of the week! Wish me luck!

Subbing in Preschool
Well, Friday I subbed in a Pre-K class at my preschool. It was pretty interesting and fun! Not like the last time I subbed in this class. The biggest trouble-maker was absent and it made this class a breeze to handle. It just goes to show you that one bad apple CAN spoil the whole bunch! We had fun because it was St. Patricks Day and we hid Lenny the Leprechaun, looked for gold on the playground and all in all it was a fun day. We even had green frosted donuts...blech, no thanks! Well, the kids loved them.
I have never really enjoyed subbing because you walk into someone elses problems and discipline method. I would much rather have my own class and start with my rules from the beginning.
I am still waiting to see what will be opening up at my campus in regards to a job. Right now I am a lowly support staff member, basically potty patrol. And let me tell you even though the children are all supposed to be way past potty training, there are still those who are definitely not! I have had my kids and they are older than the potty training age so I have been there done that! Unfortunately the director of the preschool is not much into confrontation so if a parent is putting up a fuss they stay.
So therefore, no more support staff for me.
I am hoping they will begin an art program in the preschool, because the school has NO free art, nothing in regards to self expression through art. All they ever do is crafts. Here is the snowmans body, eyes, nose, hat and scarf, now cut, paste and color and ta-da! They call that art. Haaruummph!
So I am praying for an opening once the budget is put through.
Otherwise there may be a Pre-K aide position which would be ok too.
So that is the latest, not the greatest.

Hail to the ground!

Well, we here in So Cal, finally have winter season! Hail fell today the size of ...well, hail..I guess.
We were sitting there watching Spongebob with the kids and all of a sudden it was very loud! We looked outside and saw bouncing rain! Carl went outside and the kids looked out the window, daddy then held out his hand with a few fast melting hail balls in his hands. I don't think they really remembered the last time it hailed. Other than that it is raining off and on and very windy and cold.

Running On Fumes...
Wow, ever have one of those days where you just run out of time to get everything done? Well, take that and multiply by 5! This whole week seemed to fly by and all the things that I meant to do still have yet to be done!
Sigh... my energy level is so low I could fall asleep at the computer writing thissssssssssssssssssssssssssssss-oh whoops, sorry! Let's see, work everyday from 8:30 to 1:00pm, then take Cole home, empty his backpack, ooh and ahh over his school work and art, make him a snack, eat my lunch, clean dishes, put a few things away, look at mail, throw out junkmail, clear the table of junk, sit down for about 5 minutes, then Kaleigh comes home, ooh and ahh over her schoolwork and art, praise her on 100% on her math speed drill, laugh at her funny drawings, put ice pack from lunch in the freezer, then we got to work 2 hours on a "bug house" that she had to make! Paint, glue, find tiny little things to use as furniture, etc...so no, this was not a bug catcher cage deal, this was a miniature house for bugs. Ack PPhhht!
Then make dinner, clean out dishwasher, get bath ready, get kids in bath, then oh, wow, I have 20 minutes before I have to start dinner for hubby and me! What to do? Post a new message on my Blog! Cool.
Well, there you have the condensed version of my day. I am not saying that it is any busier than anyone elses, but when you break it down it is exhausting!
So that is why this post is titled as it is. And I am... so I will now sit and gel for the next 10 minutes before I have to start dinner, that will definitely be coming out of a box tonight!

Planning our Vacations
Well, the time is at hand to set up our vacations for the summer! We look foreward to seeing family and friends and Carl and I are even getting away for a 2 night getaway to Vegas! We went for the first time last year and enjoyed the food and shows so much we decided to do it again. Grandma and Grandpa have the kids and we can really relax and enjoy ourselves. We are considering getting tickets to "The Blue Man Group" so if anyone has seen it let me know.
We will also do our annual trip to Canada to see the folks and on the way, Tina and family.
A new trip will be to meet up with my friend Angie and her family in Colorado. Don't know if we are going to stay in cheap motels or rent a Moterhome or Trailer. It will be interesting anyway. I haven't seen my friend for a while and I would like to catch up.
We will also be going to Lake Tahoe for a week with Carl's family. Grandma, Grandpa, sister Michele and her family and brother Craig and his family and of course us! We rent a big cabin and have a blast!
It is very odd to not work in the summer but it is pretty cool too!
Still don't know if I will have a job next school year....

It Rained and it Poured...
Wow, what a dreary but productive day it was! The rain came down and washed away all of our smog, yeaa.
But staying inside all day was a little well, perplexing. Do I clean? Do I knit? Do I plan an elaborate dinner?
Well, I ended up doing a little of everything. Cleaned up the family room, knit a bit of a scarf I am making for a friend, and made dinner.
Sometimes I wonder about dinner.
I wonder a lot.
My family is full of picky eaters, my kids eat almost 2 hours before we do (Carl doesn't come home til 7:15pm), so I am making two meals a night, one of which consists of hot dogs, mac and cheese, grill cheese, pizza or a chicken bowl. Not much other than that. Oh plain chicken with corn too.
Then later I make a whole new meal for Carl and myself. A major pain in the patootie!
If you had a choice between a maid, a chef or a nanny which would it be?
You probably know my answer to that!
Funny thing is I love preparing entertaining food (that comes from when I worked as a Pampered Chef consultant) I still enjoy making and eating appetizers and dessert. I would be set if the family were the same!
Hmmmm, what can I do over and over again with chicken, Hamburger meat or pasta, aaarrrgghhh!
Making dinner is just plain, well lets put it this way, when we went on a cruise in November of '04 my favorite part was not planning or making meals....aaaahhh, heaven!

A Day at Home...
Well, today is a sick day for Cole. He struggles with recurring bronchyialitis. This is basically a condition that is a few wheezes short of asthma. Carl had the same thing as a child and we mostly just deal with it in the winter months when it is especially cold, windy, or rainy or a combination thereof. Today is both rainy and windy, and he coughed all night, so... no school today. Kaleigh was picked up by a carpooling buddy of mine so that was nice that I did not have to wake Cole (he slept in til 8:10). We have a nebulizer (breathing treatment machine) that we use when neccessary. Mostly when the cough becomes a true wheeze and Cole is not able to get a decent breath. We find, however, that when we give him his Albuterol early on in the coughing stage the need for the nebulizer diminishes.
Never let your child be diagnosed with asthma if it isn't definitely asthma. Carl was diagnosed as a child with asthma and later attempted to get into the Coast Guard. Childhood asthma kept him from getting in. Not that I am complaining myself, I am glad he has a nice safe job ; P
But having a child diagnosed with asthma can cause problems later in life, so be aware!

American Idolitis
No, I don't have it but it certainly is out there! Beating out the Olympics, who would have thunk it? I am a curious fan, however, and enjoy watching bits and pieces of it. I find my favorite and hope they stay. I even voted...once. Now I am not going to let my family starve or stay in when there is a family birthday, and no, we don't have the latest in recording equipment and even if we did it is not that important to me. I like watching it, but I don't throw a fit if I don't get to see it. I am amazed at the general public and their fascination with the "idols". They are normal people with a normal dream and one of them will realize it.
Well, that is all for now on the subject other than that Chris is the fav right now.

ON BEING A "MESSIE"
I just figured out a while back (a month or so) that I am a "messie". This is a condition that is actually quite well known and there is literally a support group that can be joined by going to www.messies.com it is a very supportive group and they do keep one inspired and motivated. I have always been somewhat of a slob and I am having a hard time teaching my kids to clean up when I am not the most tidy person around. I don't mean to say that my house is not clean, it just takes a very long time to tidy before the cleaning gets done!
Most of the time I look around and think, "I really have to clean up this place" and then I never know when or where to start, so I don't! If this sounds at all familiar, check out a book called "The Messies Manual" by Sandra Felton. It helps you to know whether you are a "messie" or not. I have been working on decluttering for about a month now, and the diningroom and office have been tidy for about that long. It is nice because that is the entrance to the house and it is not bad when you first walk in. The livingroom/family room is not as tidy, but that is going to be a pretty big job, with all the toys and stuff that has no particular place in the house. I am doing some major tossing too. Biting the bullet and just getting rid of it instead of saying, "oooh, that could be used for this...or that" It is not easy but I am doing a little at a time.
That and knitting are my two passions right now!
Hope you enjoyed the previous post and photos of my littlen's.

Intro to my blog
Ok, here we go. This is Keeka. For those who know me, that is a nick name and I prefer to use it on my blog. For those I have not talked to in a while, I am married to Carl (another Disney Alum) and we have 2 kidlets, Kaleigh 7 and Cole 4. Carl is a data recovery engineer and I work at the preschool that my son attends. I am now certified to teach preschool and am awaiting a position to open, hopefully this next school year. Right now I do "potty patrol" and I detest it.
That is about it for update on my life, other than we own a small home on bigger property in Brea, Calif. Great neighborhood and room to add on to the house, a project that will be coming up in the next couple of years.
Photos of family will be arriving soon, once I get situated.

Ok, so I am new to this whole "Blogging" thing, so be kind and be patient.
I will be posting more as the days go by, but not now, American Idol is on and yes, I am hooked, but only a little bit. I am pretty sure one of the guys is going to win, so I am focusing my attention on them.
So we shall see, what comes...
