The One and Only
Ok, so this was the only photo I could find from May 15th, 1988. It was a Sunday at Stoney Point, wherever that is! I only know 'cause it was in my diary! I kept one from about 1978 to about 1993 or so. A large box under my bed, but that is another story! Anywhoo, I know at least 3 people other than myself that were there and two are in the photo. Nice shorts, Lee! Tina and I took most of the photos and if you can see, there is another person up on the hill, I believe this may have been Steve T. Maybe Lee can say, but that is the day I repelled down a mountain for the first and only time! I really enjoyed it and as you saw in my previous posts I had a little taste of the climbing bug again at Oak Glen! But I didn't get to repel down, though now that I think of it I probably could have! I have yet to locate the other photo that Tina took of me as a tiny speck on the big cliff! I know it is somewhere, but that is a big job to find that! I actually have a tiny album that I have put all my favorite photos in. Mostly me in different situations, where the photo tells a story. I know, I know, it's not all about me! But hey this is a photo album of me, for me! So poo! But I digress, this is about rock climbing and finding photos!

Easter 2008
This Easter was fun! We went to church and then to Grandma's house! She had 230 eggs to hide! Guess who was the Easter Bunny? Well, me and two others! Whew that was a lot of eggs!
There were candy filled and money eggs. The kids really enjoyed looking in the harder spots this year and leaving the easier ones for their cousin, Will. It was fun and we were able to visit with the San Fran visitors, Craig, Lisa and Will. So fun all around and we even saw a live bunny on the front lawn!
Oak Glen 2008
So another weekend at Oak Glen....
It was beautiful weather if you like it cold and then warmer in the afternoon. I prefer it cold all day, but hey, I really can't complain, it was very nice. As you can see we had a nice little cozy cabin, and we took our usual family photo for my scrapbook. The pointy building is the chapel where all of our services were (or meetings) and it is wonderful being in that building with God's nature all around...very peaceful. We always have a relaxing time. There is something about being there that refreshes and renews. The kids always have fun too! They can pretty much run around wherever they choose. The only other people there are those that work the camp and they are all really nice and we have been coming here for the last 8 years or so and they all comment on how much they have grown! We wouldn't miss it for anything!

Rock Climbing at Oak Glen
We had a really good time up at Oak Glen this year! They had something new this year...the rock climbing wall! We had to sign a waiver and get an arm band to do it and they only had a certain time available so everyone who signed up went from 1pm until we were all worn out!
At first it was only going to be Carl, myself and Kaleigh, but as Cole watched Kaleigh, he decided to try too! He didn't get to the top but he did pretty good! I was frankly astonished that I was able to pull myself up without any help from the belayer (sorry about spelling, Steve!). Carl was huffing and puffing pretty good, but he did a harder one. Kaleigh made it to the top with a little help and she did do fine coming down too. All in all it was fun and I wouldn't mind doing that again! Now that I think of it, I think it was about 20 years ago that we went "real" rock climbing and repelling! Now THAT was fun! Thanks again, Steve for the experience all those years ago!
Man, I feel old right now!

Getting used to it!

Well, it has been tw0 days, and Kaleigh is slowly getting used to not having all that hair! It is a lot easier to get used to this than the long stuff! She loves it and so do all her friends and everyone (even those she doesn't know) are saying how nice it looks! We are VERY happy! This photo is a side view to show the cut a little better! It is really only about and inch in the back, very nice.
She is addicted to wearing headbands but that is ok, it looks cute that way. She is lookin' very stylish, don'tcha think?

It's Gone! March 13, 2008!
Whoo Hoooo!!! Her hair is short! Yay! So today after school and homework was done, we all went to have our hair cut!
I had a meeting to go to so I couldn't stay. Kaleigh was after me and I was able to see her pony get cut off! Whew! And then they washed and cut her hair. So this is a photo of her braid and her new hair cut! Sorry for the poor quality (it's a little dark, but if you zoom in you can see her cut. I took photo of the back but it was too blurry. Her hair stylist also took photos so when I get those from her (who knows when, she is a little flakey) I will post again with better photos. But I am extremely happy! And Kaleigh does like her new "do"!

Wheee! Only 3 1/2 more days!
Ok, is it normal to be sooo excited about getting some hair cut? Not really, but I am! Kaleigh has had this long hair for about a year now, and it is driving me batty! Tangles, braids, washing, drying, hair on my feet when I walk in her room (blech!), hair in the drain, etc etc! I will be ecstatic come Thursday! And yes, I will post photos of my Kaleigh's new hair! I hope she likes it, she is almost (not quite) as excited about getting it cut as I am! So watch for photos coming after Thursday!

Affenschaukel (Monkey Swings)

When I was young, my mom would braid my hair into long braids and then curl them under and tie them with a ribbon. My mom called this hairstyle Affenschaukel or monkey swings. A while back when Kaleigh's hair got long enough, I showed her Affenschaukel on one of my school photos. She liked them and asked me to do her hair like that. Her friends loved it and even copied the style for a few days after that (my little trendsetter, just like her Omi). I explained what Affenschaukel meant and she laughed. We didn't do affenschaukel for a while but now that she is ready to cut her hair (this thursday, Yay!), she wants to take photos of all the hairstyles that we have done for school. So yesterday we did affenschaukel and she has these little monkeys that she got out of a vending machine, so she put one on one of the affenschaukel so this time they were real affenschaukel! Cute huh?

Flash-back
to 2003

I was just looking for a specific photo in all the photos in my computer and I wasn't sure how far back it was stored, so I was just browsing and found these. The one of Cole reminds me of my sis, Tina, as her hair used to stick up like that but without the static! Heehee. Kaleigh just looked so happy (not an ounce of attitude here!) and carefree! I love looking at photos of the kids from
when they were toddlers, the expressions and the activities are always fun to look at. Some day I will get all this in an album, but for now it is nice to browse in the computer instead of looking through hundreds and thousands of pictures in envelopes! I could do this all day, sitting here with a cup of tea on a gloomy day and remembering all the fun my kids had with Daddy and Mommy! What a blessing!
