HA HA HA! Kris Allen Won!

Ok, yes, I follow American Idol. I enjoy the beginning and watching through to see how some can butcher songs and how others switch them around but still make them good. Last night was the finale and it was between Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. Adam Lambert has questionable morals is just a bit (sarcastic) theatrical, (gee wonder why), and seems to be "playing" the audience with a very unnatural humbleness that does not seem real. Kris Allen, on the other hand has always been a bit on the quiet side, not really believing himself to be in the running for the top spot. His selfless attitude does seem sincere and I like his background as a worship leader at his church. His family (dad, mom, wife etc) all seem truly in awe of the whole situation. When he won I don't think he really felt it yet. On last nights show, Kris sang with Keith Urban and did a great job! Adam sang with KISS. It was kind of funny but he actually sounded like the old F*rts did when they started out. Adam will most likely do really well, even if he isn't the one in the top spot. He can do theatre, TV or music. I just don't think he would make a good role model for the American youth. I think Kris is a better example. I know it is a singing competition, but the top dog does get a lot of publicity and exposure and a lot of that is directed towards the kids. So good for you Kris! Oh, and Danny Gokey, who started out as my favorite (came in third), is also a worship leader and I think that helped Kris too. All of the Danny fans probably voted for Kris!

ACSI Speech Meet - 2009 I can never get my photos in order! The above is the "After" photo. The photo below is the "before". I didn't get any actually before the meet but this is the here is my ribbon (top score-blue), and now I am wiped out. So, you can see why I say that the order is off!

She did do an excellent job on her speech. There are three catagories, Bible Verse, Fable and Poem. For some reason Kaleigh enjoys doing the fables. I would think the rhythm of a poem would help to remember it, but hey, that is just me. The speech meet started at 9am and went until right around noon. Then Kaleigh had the rest of the day off, so we did a girls only day. We had lunch at Mimi's Cafe, then went to the Mall to do a little shopping, and then we came home and pretty much crashed. Our energy levels were depleted due to the stress and nerves we had before the meet. I told her that she didn't have to be nervous! I was nervous enough for the both of us, but unfortunately, Kaleigh is her mother's daughter and was pretty nervous. She did get up and did a great job of not acting nervous. I think once she got up there, the nerves were gone. She did great and we are very proud of her!
