Having Fun with "Build-a-Bear"
If you have never been there, the Build-a-Bear workshop is a place where you can pick a floppy animal, stuff it, put a heart in it, dress it, take it home, and love it! Kaleigh went to a birthday party in which the birthday girl's parents bought all 12 little girls an opportunity to buy and build a bear, or animal. In Kaleigh's case it was a very furry white bunny. She got a cheerleading outfit for her bunny and loves it like crazy! She has been begging to go back to get more clothes. It is extremely popular and it is really a fun place to go and treat your kids to a fun time. The cost is not that bad, the bear or animal can cost anywhere from $10.00 to $20.00 and the outfits are mostly about $10.00 as well. You don't have to buy an outfit but it is kind of neat to find little clothes that reflect your child's interests. The animals are pretty large, about 18" and the clothes are well-made and have quite a few accessories attached. For instance Kaleigh's cheerleading outfit for her bunny "Emily", has the top, the skirt, pom-poms, a megaphone, bows, and a little flag. It really is cute. The whole experience is fun and it helps the kids understand how these animals are made. The one nearest to us is at Downtown Disney and we can walk around and make an afternoon of it. It is not bad for what you get!

My girls each have a couple of "Build-a-Bear" buddies. The first time we heard about it was a birthday party too -- around 5 or 6 years ago. Both of the girls were invited.
Hayley, who was 5 or 6 at the time, built a monkey. She had a fun time making it and dressing it while working in the party budget set for each girl. The difficult part was when it came time to name them. You left out that process!
At checkout, you name your animal and a "birth certificate" is printed. This is really cool. However, Hayley had no imagination for the process and just planned to name her monkey "Hayley". Hmm.
I convinced her to add "Bananaeater" as the last name. To this day, she cares for Hayley Bananaeater with a special bed, her own little blanket, etc.
We've never done that. Diana's a little too old for that now. I don't know that something like that would have been up her alley anyway.

robert, Kaleigh is the opposite she new what name she wanted as soon as the person said they would be naming it! Her bunnies name is Emily, no clue why.

Gol. Hey Binks, remember when we had to sew all those little circles into rings to make that clown doll? It was cute and all, but I can never throw it away because I worked too dang hard on it!!
I did throw out the felt doll I made when I was like 10. She was all deformed. Heh. Cute idea, bad seamstress (at least at age 10).
