Memory Books are a big hit!
Here is a small sample of the memory books that I made. The front cover has the poem on it, the September page is their first "Me" drawing and the other "Me" drawing is in May. You can really see how this little girl has grown! The page with the cross was their project for Easter. It is colored glue and they drizzle it on and then fold the paper to make the design. Each of my 10 kids got one of these. A two page spread for each month they were in school. A lot of work, but really worth it!

That is a REALLY cool idea! It would be nice if all teachers did this. Sounds like it would be easy to tie into the curriculum and it is nice to keep as opposed to the random piles of school work that come home.

When Cole was in the 3yr old class, he came home with a bunch of boring folders with boring shape projects, boring color project and a few neat art projects along with some boring art projects! I was very happy when we were told we could do memory books if we wanted. The lead teacher decided to stick to what she had been doing for the last 25 years, (the boring folders) and was none too thrilled that we were doing something different. She didn't make any stink about it but you could kind of tell that she knew that ours would be better, and the parents would know it. They were soooo appreciative! I am very glad I gave them this precious gift of their child's first year of school.
Diana & Connor both have memory books of their first year in Kindergarten. There are some really neat photos from things at our school. We are along a creek, so they raise salmon and the kids release the fish into the creek every year.
