Christmas Day at Scott and Michele's!

Wow, what a day! Or rather morning! We arrived at Carl's sis and bro-in-law's at 9:30am for a wonderful breakfast feast! Egg Puff, sausage, bacon, cinnamon rolls, scones, eggnog, etc etc! Delicious! We also take the opportunity to get family photos done because Carl's parents are all together with all of their kids and spouses and with all of their grandkids! So you can see all the families. See if you can see which are George and Annettes children! The one of them on the couch is of all of the grandkids with the grandparents! You'll spot us, but see if you can figure out Carl's brother and sister! We had a really fun time, but by 1pm Kaleigh was ready to leave so she could build her Lego house at home. So all in all, everything was nice, and I am still full at 5pm! But then I have been snacking off my Weihnachts Teller! Yummy! Candy canes, Contessas, and chocolate, Oh my!

Sounds like good Christmasses all around. Legos really are a hit--they trumped the unopened presents for Patrick. He wouldn't go on until he assembled his Lego. However, after stepping on a lego barefoot last night, I couldn't help but woder if they were specifically designed to maim parents

oh yeah, did that a few times myself. I was so mad I tossed all the Lego's into the box and put them up high where the kids couldn't reach them. I said that if the blocks hurt someone, they get taken away for at least the rest of the day. I am sooo mean!
Hope your Christmas was nice too!

OK here's the thing I can't keep from asking anymore....Forgive me if I'm remembering this wrong (wouldn't be the first time) but aren't you the person that didn't want anything to do with kids? Now you have kids, blog about kids, work with kids, etc!!! Don't get me wrong, I think that's terrific....I know that was 20 years ago but I've got nothing else to go on

No, you are absolutely right! Carl and I both did not want kids or anything to do with them. We were married about 4 years when Carl's Aunt and Uncle invited us to a Bill Gothard (Christian speaker) Marraige seminar. They paid so we went. It was very enlightening, but we still were on the no kids kick. We did enjoy the speakers so when the Marraige and Family seminar came around we went to that too (focusing more on the Marraige part). We did go to a seminar where a man spoke about not wanting kids after having 2, then he and his wife accidentally had one more and he talked about how much this little girl brought to their lives, etc etc. We caved.
We talked about our childhoods and how much fun we had with our siblings and how our lives would be pretty lonely if we stayed on the no kid kick. So, we decided to leave it up to God to decide.
It took about 7 months.

Oh, and the reason I work with kids is it gives us a break on tuition and I actually love the work! A friend from church told me a long time ago that my "gift" is teaching young children. I thought she was a couple sandwiches short of a picnic because of how I felt about kids at the time, but she pretty much got it right!

I'm glad you had kids. You have great kids. And you're a great mom & Carl's a great dad.

Yay!
