Hail to the ground!

Well, we here in So Cal, finally have winter season! Hail fell today the size of ...well, hail..I guess.
We were sitting there watching Spongebob with the kids and all of a sudden it was very loud! We looked outside and saw bouncing rain! Carl went outside and the kids looked out the window, daddy then held out his hand with a few fast melting hail balls in his hands. I don't think they really remembered the last time it hailed. Other than that it is raining off and on and very windy and cold.

Cute...
Diana & I sat in the car this morning while it defrosted the windows before we could do her paper route. The papers are supposed to be delivered by 7:00 am, and in the colder, darker months, I drive her.
I need some kind of car shade thing since we made the carport into the bedroom.
:)
We weren't even sure it was hailing at our house. Once we looked closely though, we saw the little pieces of ice bouncing around (it was nighttime). We have a pass through window in our kitchen to a tiled shelf out back. There was just enough light coming through the kitchen window for us to see the ice before it melted.
We also had 1 lightning bolt around midnight. It was loud enough to shake the house, but then it was done. Lightning storms are rare, but I don't think I have ever seen one that consisted of a single bolt of lighting and clap of thunder that was so loud and close.
To recap: snow, hail, thunder, lightning, and killer bees in SoCal. Yikes!
